A Beautiful Curio

I will always remember the day my sister and brother-in-law brought this gorgeous curio cabinet to our new home. We just moved back to Ohio from Tennessee. In a conversation one morning, I said to my sister that we have a empty corner in the living room that I needed to fill. I had no idea what to use. In the past I would visit  her home and I was amazed at all of her antiques. I love looking at each piece just gazing threw the glass doors like a child in a candy store. Her home was filled with beauties and it felt so confortable.  To me it was like browsing an antique store. Just there to look.  She would tell me about each piece, where she happened to find it and the story that went along with it.
One day she phoned me to say  that she had "one too many curio cabinets" and would I like to have one. I jumped at the chance. Actually thrilled to say the least. The next morning they where bringing it over and I could`t sit still. I must have paced by the door a hundred times.  In the back of my mind I kept saying they will be here just be patient. The anticipation was overwhelming.
What will I fill the shevles with?  Then I thought go to each room and pick your most beautiful glass. I did.
When they finally arrived I could see it standing up in the back of their truck. It almost had a new home.  My husband and brother-in-law brought the curio in and it was placed in the corner. She then asked "Well, what are you going to put in this sis?" I showed her what I had and she said it would fit nicely. She smiled at me. I began filling it up.
The memory of that day makes me smile. I could never part with this beautiful curio.
